New to Cruising
On any cruise, entertainment is always guaranteed. It’s included in the price you pay, so make the most of the shows and interactive events on offer.
Broadway-style shows are increasingly popular, such as Stomp! and Cats. You can laugh out loud to a comedy show, get interactive with popular games and quizzes, relax in front of a life band in a traditional pub or unwind in the spa (though treatments cost extra). During the day, group entertainment is organised around the pool, or you could retreat to the on board library and select a book for something a little quieter.
For the perfect family holiday look no further than a cruise! Don’t worry about baggage or pleasing everyone with complicated arrangements, there’s something for everyone on a cruise ship and plenty of ports to explore!
Babies, grandparents, toddlers, teens – did we miss anyone out? There really is space on a cruise for everyone. Babysitting services provide an escape for the grown ups, while kids’ clubs and young adult zones do the same for little ones. Adults only spas and relaxation areas give you somewhere to unwind while the kids are kept occupied with plenty of activities and there are organised games, restaurants and entertainment options to suit all ages.
There’s plenty to keep you occupied on a cruise, with a full range of activities included in the cost, so there will be no nasty surprises on your bill.
Work out in the gym, play tennis, perfect your golf swing, take on the water slides or make new friends on deck in a group activity. Bigger ships mean an enormous variety of activities, such as skydiving (on a ship!), learning about the solar system in the only planetarium at sea or trying surfing on a state of the art simulator.
Try pasta in Pisa or sushi in Sapporo – the choices are endless! Most restaurants are included in your bill and only speciality restaurants will incur an additional charge.
Many ships now offer freestyle dining so you can dine when it’s convenient to you, rather than waiting for your specific time slot. Of course, traditional cruise lines still have this option but it’s great to have the flexibility – 24 hour buffets also mean you can eat when you like! You can opt to pay a little extra to dine in speciality restaurants that could even be run by celebrity chefs, but generally breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are included while drinks cost extra. You could upgrade to a drinks package on selected cruise lines to make it even more cost-effective.

There’s none of the hassle that comes with flying: you only need to unpack once, no lengthy transfers, flight delays or awkward baggage requirements, and often you don’t have to fly at all if you take a round trip. But if you’re new to cruising you might like some more information about just why it is such a great experience. Our cruise consultants are on hand to explain why cruise holidays are continuing to increase in popularity every year.
